Financing 30x30: debt for nature, climate, and people
Saturday, December 17, 11:00 - 12:00 ET

Developing countries have made ambitious commitments to 30X30, despite high levels of debt distress. In the context of a large Green Climate Fund proposal to help countries finance 30x30 commitments, the panel will discuss opportunities such as debt restructuring, scaling up debt exchanges, and scaling non-debt instruments to help transform policies to reduce harmful financial flows to biodiversity, while financing long-term conservation of protected area systems and other effective area-based conservation measures, and funding to support Indigenous Peoples and local communities.
