The GEF: Strengthening integration for greater impact
About the event
The Global Environment Facility is the largest and most experienced multilateral fund dedicated to addressing environmental threats to the planet. Despite 30 years of successful work, the GEF cannot stand still. In the face of the scale and urgency of the threats facing the planet, and the emerging opportunities and needs to accelerate and scale up the transformation of key economic systems to deliver positive impacts for the global environment, the GEF must rise to the scale of the challenge.
This event will describe the GEF-8 strategy and the ongoing GEF-8 replenishment process from two different perspectives: (i) a developed country who is a strong contributor to the GEF and who will help to fund the GEF-8 strategy, and (ii) a developing country who receives and programs GEF funds and who is an integral partner in the operationalization of the GEF-8 strategy.
